Whether you’re in school, college, or the working world, chances are you have a pretty busy schedule. Throw an evening date into the mix (especially a last minute one) and you may find yourself panicking to get ready and look your best after a long day. If you’re ever in that situation, here’s a quick and simple makeup look that will get you looking gorgeous and flawless in under 5 minutes…
Before we kick off the makeup routine, the first thing I always like to do is whiten my teeth (and quickly, since we don’t have much time here!). A white smile is also the perfect complement to a bright lip look, which will be one of the main focuses of this look.
I’ve personally been a long-time user of Colgate® Optic White® Toothpaste but recently upgraded to Colgate® Optic White® RADIANT™ Toothpaste. What I love about Colgate®’s new RADIANT™ formula is that it safely whitens both the outside and inside of your teeth. It’s formulated with the dentist recommended ingredient hydrogen peroxide and is enamel safe, so you can use it daily for a brighter smile to go with all your makeup looks.
Now let’s move onto a quick and easy, 7-step makeup look that puts all the focus on big lashes and bold lips…
5-Minute Date Night Makeup Look
Step 1 (20 seconds): To start off, grab an eyebrow pencil (I used this one) and lightly fill in the brows, concentrating mainly on the sparse areas. Unlike powders or pomades, brow pencils work great when you’re in a rush and take literally seconds to apply.
Step 2 (1 minute): Next, grab a full-coverage concealer that’s 1 to 2 shades lighter than your skintone (I used this one). Apply in a triangle shape under your eyes, then tap and blend with the fingers (the added warmth will help the formula to spread and blend faster than with a brush). Apply any excess product over your eyelids, nose, and cheeks. This step will not only help conceal and brighten the entire eye area but also minimize the need for a heavy, all-over foundation application.
Step 3 (1 minute): Next, apply 1-2 layers of powder foundation (here I’m using Everyday Minerals’). Grab a large, fluffy brush and lightly press and blend until you’ve covered your entire face (including the eye area). Powder foundations are probably the quickest and easiest way to make your skin look flawless; plus, they double as a setting powder for the concealer we just applied.
Step 4 (20 seconds): For the cheeks, grab a bright blush with a shimmer finish. This will double as your highlighter and blush and save you one extra step. An angled blush brush makes the application go that much faster, as it evenly deposits the pigments along your cheekbone and requires minimal blending.
Step 5 (1 minute): Next, grab your darkest eyeliner (black, preferably) and line your lash line only. This will help your lashes appear fuller and wake up the eyes. We’re completely skipping the cat-eye and heavy eyeliner with this look since they can get you in trouble when you’re in a rush! Instead, we’re going crazy with the lashes to really open the eyes and add drama…
Step 6 (30 seconds): Grab your blackest, most volumizing mascara (I’m loving this one!) and apply one generous first coat. To quickly build volume, hold the mascara wand at the base of your lashes (where you want to dispense the most product), wiggle it side-to-side, then blink into the wand. By blinking, you push the lashes deep into the wand brush, causing them to pick up more formula while also adding extra lift. Wait for the first layer to dry, then go in one more time to build more intense volume.
Step 7 (20 seconds): For the finishing step, apply your favorite bright and bold lipstick. Try to find one that stains the lips for even longer wear (and more even fading). Toss in your bag for touch-ups throughout the evening, and you’re all set!
