It’s just about that time of the year again! Festival season is quickly approaching, and all the sun, summer styles, and music that comes along with it. Whether you’re packing up for an event, summer trip, or just having fun sitting pool-side, here are some must-have festival season essentials – from cozy loungewear to hydrating, all-natural skin and hair care.
Comfy-Cozy Loungewear
Summer is all about wearing cool and comfy clothes, especially if you’re going to be camping out at a music festival. (Bonus points if you can wear them to sleep, and then out and about the next day – because why not?). That’s why no summer wardrobe, or suitcase, is complete without some cute and cozy loungewear.
PJ Salvage is my latest discovery for loungewear pieces that easily transition from sleepwear to casual everyday wear. Their selection of bralettes, shorts, and tops range from modern to vintage designs, and are made with ultra-soft, luxurious materials that are beyond cozy. I’m currently loving the Hello Sunshine top + shorts combo (and have their Wild Spirit Pants and Blue Batik Night Shirt to my wishlist)!
Skin & Hair Miracle Worker
Between the sun, heat, dry air, and even chlorine, our skin and hair can really suffer in the summer. When it’s time for some repair and re-hydration, good ol’ coconut oil can work wonders after a day out in the sun, swimming, or whenever you need a moisture boost.
For hitting the festivals or traveling, we could lug around a jar of coconut oil, but Renpure‘s made a much more convenient version to carry around with their Black Label 100% Organic Coconut Oil Jar. Inside is straight-up USDA certified, 100% organic, extra virgin, and unrefined coconut oil – the best kind when it comes to delivering the most amount of nourishing benefits as possible. It also helps knock out quite a few products from our packing lists, since we can use it as 1) an intensive hair care treatment, 2) a body and face moisturizer, and 3) a face cleanser/makeup remover! Bonus: It gives your skin a little extra glow too ;).
Renpure‘s Black Label Coconut Line also includes a shampoo and conditioner if you want to give your hair some extra attention. Both combine the nourishing benefits of unrefined coconut oil and bamboo fibers to re-hydrate and strengthen your hair as you cleanse.
One-Step Hair Removal
So we took care of moisturizing our skin, but wait, is that hair on my legs – but I just shaved!? When summer laziness is at its peak, keeping up with shaving can get pretty tedious. That’s where wax strips come in handy when you want longer-lasting results with much less maintenance.
If you’re new to waxing, I’d recommend trying out Nad’s Ultra Smoothing Exfoliating Wax Strips. These aren’t your average at-home hair remover strips – they’re actually 3-in-1 multi-taskers that prep and exfoliate in addition to removing hair. The wax formula works on the legs, arms and bikini area, and on all hair types – even thick and short hairs. They’re also infused with pomegranate and grapefruit extracts to soothe the skin, making them great for even sensitive skin types.
Soothing Eye Relief
Eye drops are an often over-looked, but absolute must-have when it comes to staying comfortable through dry weather, wind, dirt and dust, and other unavoidable irritants. Fortunately, little eye drop bottles take up no space at all, and are easy to slip into your purse or jean shorts pocket – because you never know when you’ll need them!
As a contact lens wearer, my eyes get dry enough as it is on a daily basis. Throw in swimming and spending lots of time outdoors in the summer, and my eyes can get dry, red, irritated, and just plain uncomfortable and bothersome. That’s why this summer I’m popping the Clear Eyes’ new Pure Relief® Multi-Symptom drops into my beach, hiking, and all-day bag. They’re designed to relieve everything from itchy, dry eyes, to watery, irritated eyes for up to 12 hours, plus they’re preservative free (their bottle has a built-in purifying filter that keeps the bacteria out, so there’s no need for preservatives) making them great for even sensitive eyes. (Look out for coupons here on their website here!)
Fizzy Refresher
Nothing works better than a cold refreshing drink to help cool down your body when you’re feeling overheated. Sodas, colas, and other sugary beverages can do the trick, but who needs all that extra sugar on top of popsicles, ice cream, candy, and other summertime treats? If you’re a carbonated drink addict like myself (everything to me takes better when it’s got tiny bubbles!), try natural sparkling water, like La Croix, to get your bubble fix while also cooling down and quenching your thirst.
La Croix fizzy drinks contain only two ingredients – 100% natural sparkling water and natural flavoring – and are completely free of sodium, calories, fat, sweeteners, and caffeine (plus they’re non-GMO, kosher, paleo and whole 30 friendly). They have some pretty unique flavor combos, too, like blackberry + cucumber and their newest flavor – ‘Cúrate Piña Fraise’ – a pineapple-strawberry blend inspired by the Spanish & French cultures. It’s beyond tasty and refreshing!
Sugar-Rush
Whether you’re at a festival, or chillin’ out by the pool, sometimes you can’t help but crave a sugary treat. Even though many of us are well past our kid years, there’s no better time to take a trip down memory lane and enjoy our favorite childhood candy – sugar-rush and all – than during the summer.
Ever since I was a kid, my candy of choice has always been Sour Punch straw candies. Lately, I’ve been enjoying their latest two flavors – Pineapple Mango Chili Straws and Ragin’ Reds Bites. The Pineapple Mango Chili straws are sweet and sour, but with a little added heat, while with the Ragin’ Reds, you’ve got all the red flavor-favorites like strawberry, watermelon, cherry, and raspberry, only in larger bite-sized straw pieces. If you’re a long-time Sour Punch fan like me, I’m betting you’ll love both!
Will you be participating in the festival season? What are some of your festival or summertime essentials?
