A little while back, I remember Googling ‘quick and easy holiday decorating’ ideas, and I ended up on Martha Stewart’s website. Needless to say, every single thing she had on her list was beyond what I would call ‘easy’! A double Wreath Chandelier?! Candles Lanterns made out of snow?! Sure, Martha has tons of great ideas for the home, but in today’s world (and working world especially), sometimes we have very little time to prepare for the holidays. But that doesn’t mean we should skip out on decorating our living spaces! No matter how small of a space you live in, or how busy your schedule is, it’s important to add some little festive decorations to brighten up your home and make it more relaxing for both you and your guests. So if you’re looking for some quick and easy holiday ideas that will work for anyone and any space, keep on reading!
Bring emphasis to your table décor by utilizing CV Linens’ lavish selection of bulk lace table runners, they are designed to be placed down in the middle of your table, to define your guest seating area as well as to create a stunning focal point to accentuate your centerpieces, table runners are an essential asset to tablescapes.
String lights
White and multi-colored string lights are a fun way to ‘brighten’ up a room and add some extra sparkle. You can wrap them around banisters, string them along door frames, walls, or along corners of the room. Simply grab two or three thumbtacks or small nails, space them about 3-4 feet apart, hang the lights, and plug ’em in for some pretty lighting! Or, to make it even easier, string them along artwork or frames that you already have mounted on the walls.
Light scented candles
Grab some candles that you have lying around the house and group them together to create a centerpiece for your dining room table, mantel, or coffee table. If you have scented ones that smell like pine, cookies, or wintry scents, even better! And, if your candles have a particularly high scent throw, light one in every room and let their fragrance fill up every space!
Order a festive flower bouquet
Online ordering is especially convenient during the holiday season. We already buy our gifts online, so why not grab a little something to spice up our homes too from Teleflora? It only takes a short amount of time to find a bouquet and check out, and you’ll have a stunning flower arrangement delivered straight to your door! Plus, they have some gorgeous bouquets to choose from to decorate your dining room table, entryway furniture, or coffee table. Teleflora delivers next day too so if you’re in a pinch and have guests coming, this is a great way to get prepped in no time! And the best part? The flower arrangements come with reusable vases that can be used as Winter and holiday decorations for years to come, which brings me to my next idea!
Fill a bowl with festive treats
Grab any type of bowl or vase and turn it into a festive centerpiece by adding holiday candies! Or, if you prefer a ‘sugar-free’ accent piece, add some pine cones mixed with short pine branches, or group together some multi-colored ball ornaments. As you can see in the photo above, I used the gorgeous ceramic vase that comes with Teleflora’s Silver and Joy Centerpiece as a serving bowl for holiday chocolate treats (Hershey Kisses and Rolos – my fav!). Here are even more ideas for reusing these vases during the holidays:
- fill it with Christmas cookies
- use it as a serving bowl during family meals or parties
- make it a candle-holder (if the vase is glass or ceramic) by adding sand and placing a few pillar candles in the center
Play some holiday tunes
You probably already have a stereo or speakers, so why not add some ambient background music to get the mood going? It’s as easy as finding a Christmas playlist on Spotify or Pandora on your phone, laptop or TV. Keep some tunes on quietly in the background while you have guests over, during a party or dinner, or while you’re relaxing in the evening.
Make a Christmas card display
For a mantel with extra flair, gather all the holiday cards that you received from family and friends over past and/or current years, and clothespin, clip, tape them, or simply fold them over a string. Then hang your new display across your mantel or wall for a quick decoration (that costs next to nothing too!).
Get a fire going
Light a fire to get cozy! If you live in a dorm room or an apartment that doesn’t have a fireplace, no worries – simply search ‘fireplace’ on Youtube and pick a video! They create the same look as the real thing, along with the relaxing, crackling sounds that we love. 🙂
