Just in time for Winter, we have a brand new BeautyCon Box curated by beauty vlogger Dulce Candy. She packed this box full of products to keep us hydrated and glowing this holiday season!
New to BeautyCon? It’s a seasonal subscription box that comes with a mix of beauty and lifestyle products curated by a different beauty influencer each season. The box costs $35.99 ($29 + $6.99 for shipping), and comes with over $100 worth of product. It’s currently available to the US only.
Now, let’s move on to the unboxing!
BeautyCon Box Winter 2016 Unboxing
The Winter 2016 BeautyCon Box comes packed with 11 beauty products – 7 of which are full size, and 4 deluxe size. Here are all the products, including my initial impressions of each!
Skincare
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (Value: $5) – I’m still finishing off my Simple Micellar water – haven’t tried Garnier’s yet so I was happy to see this in the box. It basically does what all micellar cleansing waters do, i.e. removes makeup and cleanses. Also, like Simple’s, it sooths/hydrates and is free of oil, alcohol, and fragrance.
Kate Somerville Exfoliating Treatment (Value: $24) – I’m not a huge Kate Somerville fan – I personally don’t think her products are worth the price (a 5 oz of this is $175.00) – however, considering the rave reviews I’ve been hearing, I’m more than curious to try it out ‘Hollywood’s 2 minute facial’…review coming soon? Maybe!
Biobelle Botanic Fiber Facial Mask (Value: $5) – Masks vary by box – I received the blueberry and yogurt version – yummy. Right off the bat, I love the packaging – it makes me hungry, number one, and second, curious to see what the mask actually looks like. Sadly, it doesn’t look like a real yogurt and blueberry mask, but it does smell good, and feel good. It fits well, stays put, and comes thoroughly drenched. It’s a quick mask (only takes 15 minutes) and helps hydrate, brighten, soothe, and protect skin.
Skinvolve Beauty Karate Cream (Value: $40) – This a full size bottle of Body Karate Cream (cool name, right!?). But what does it do? It’s designed with pure caffeine and argan oil to hydrate, tone, smooth, and improve skin texture. It has a light, pleasant, and quite unusual scent, not to mention it’s super moisturizing and absorbs quickly, with no greasy residue leave behind. I’m loving this stuff!
Makeup + Beauty Tools
L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Primer (Value: $5.99) – This primer is designed to give you thicker, longer lashes when applied before mascara, plus also condition lashes over time. Being somewhat of a ‘makeup minimalist’, I’ve personally never tried a lash primer because it would adds one extra step to my routine – however, this just may be worth it! It makes a huge difference side-by-side lashes with no primer – the extra length, volume, and separation (one thing I was skeptical of, thinking it might clump) is amazing!
L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Feline Mascara (Value: $7.99) – This mascara is designed to provide intense volume and density to the lashes. If you can get past the 80’s style design, the formula isn’t too bad. It does easily build up volume at the base of the lashes, however, length and separation – not so much. (But that’s where the primer comes in.)
Rimmel London The Only 1 Lipstick (Value: $7) – I love these Rimmel London lipsticks! They offer amazing pigmentation and go on super smooth (plus they smells like sweet fruits!) The colors in each box vary – I received the shade ‘Call Me Crazy’ which is a bright tomato red. Super happy to add this shade to my collection!
ColourPop Lippie Stix in BeautyCon Pink (Value: $5) – I actually just recently made my very first order from ColourPop. One product I picked up was a Lippie Stick – forget the color at the moment, but the formula I know is amazing – very hydrating and smooth, with rich pigmentation. Needless to say, when I saw this little guy, I got excited! The color is perfect too – a medium pink-nude that creates a ‘my lips only better’ natural look.
Artist Couture Illuminati Highlighter (Value: $14) – This is a mineral highlighter that gives off a stunning glow using a ton of multi-dimensional shimmer, with an overall pinky-beige base. It’s a bit much for everyday, but I imagine it being perfect for a holiday or New Year’s Eve party.
Luxie Beauty 552 Tapered Highlighter Brush (Value: $24) – I love Luxie brushes – they same to be popping up in a lot of subscription boxes lately (last Septembers’s Vegan Cuts box, and also this month’s Glossybox). As always, this brush is super soft and high-quality, not to mention vegan and cruelty-free!
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer (Value: $7.99) – Last but not least is this deliciously scented bronzer from Too Faced – it smells like pure cocoa! Despite being the middle shade, the Medium/Deep version I received is perfect for me (and really anyone with light to medium skin). Even better yet, the shade work perfectly as a natural-looking contour since it’s not too warm.
The BeautyCon box also includes a Ali & Jay $50 Coupon Code (for $50 off a $100 purchase), and a promo card for the new season of America’s Next Top Model (I honestly had no idea it was still on!). BeautyCon, VH1, and Rimmel are kicking off the launch with a giveaway for a VIP prize pack including $500 worth of Rimmel London cosmetics, and all subscribers are automatically entered.
Final Thoughts
Overall, as my first BeautyCon box, I was super impressed! It came packed with such a wide range of makeup and skincare products, from brands I personally love – both high-end and drugstore. The value easily exceeds $100 this quarter! Stands out for me include the Biobelle Facial Mask (blueberry and yogurt ingredients!? What a yummy combo…), the Luxie Highlighter Brush (love their vegan brushes!), and the two full-size lippies from ColourPop and Rimmel (brand favs, plus the colors are perfect too!).
