Subscription boxes make everything from beauty sampling, snacking, and clothes shopping easy and 10x more fun – at least from my experience. 🙂 But what about an underwear subscription service? Today we’re taking a look at BootayBag*, a subscription service that lets you update your lingerie drawer without even leaving your house.
What is BootayBag?
BootayBag is changing the way women shop for undies by turning it from a (more or less) yearly chore to a monthly surprise. BootayBag takes care of all the work involved in picking out cute and sexy undies, catering them to our personal style preferences, and then sending them straight to our mailboxes.
Each BootayBag comes with 2 fresh pair of undies for $12 (with free shipping in the US, international shipping for an extra $10 USD).
You can choose to receive a package monthly, bi-monthly, or whenever (they allow you to skip months as often as you want).
How Does BootayBag Work?
The entire sign-up process to delivery is quick and easy. BootayBag has a form right on their homepage where you:
- Select your size (small, medium, large)
- Choose your style: either “always thongs”, “never thongs”, or the “mix it up” (aka a combination of both)
- Add any extras, such as a bralette for $13
- Further on you choose a monthly or yearly subscription, and then enter your address (or someone else’s if it’s a gift) and billing info
Then, all that’s left is to wait for your BootayBag to arrive!
Monthly Previews
BootayBag posts a full reveal of all the styles available each month (and sometimes early peeks over on their Instagram). They give you until the 15th to order and receive what you see in the preview on their site. (After the 15th, you’ll receive undies from the next month’s selections.)
If you don’t like the options for a particular month, you can easily switch your style preference to get a different selection, or skip the month entirely.
BootayBag Review (March 2017)
My BootayBag arrived in very discreet packaging, which consisted of a plain white plastic mailer. There were no designs or visible clues as to what was inside, other than the return address that said ‘BootayBag’. (So I’d say it’s pretty office safe!)
Inside the mailer was BootayBag’s signature envelope, complete with a cute sticker announcing it’s arrival…and inside that, two new undies!
First let’s talk about sizing. Currently, Bootaybag offers 3 sizes – small, medium, and large – so unfortunately, not everyone is going to find a fit. Here’s their current size chart:

Hopefully as they grow, they’ll expand on their size selection with XS and XL’s. But in the meantime, compared to other underwear subscription services available (like Splendies, which offers 7 sizes), sizing is Bootaybag’s one big drawback.
Just for reference, I’m a size 27 or 6 in pants and I went with a size Medium. Both pairs actually fit me pretty well. I’m on the smaller end of a size medium, so they were just the slightest bit loose, though not enough to make me consider going with a small the next time around.
Other than sizing, I was very happy with the quality, and especially the feel of the fabrics. They have just the right amount of stretch and despite being almost all lace, actually felt super soft against the skin (not at all scratchy or cheap). Not to mention, the styles were cute and sexy! 😉 The two pairs I received featured beautiful lace designs, scalloped edges, and strap detailing.
Is BootayBag worth the $12 per month? If you’re based in the US, that comes to $6 per pair, which is about the average price across budget to luxury undie brands. It’s also lower than what you’d expect to pay at, say, Victoria’s Secret or a department store, which are typically around $10-$15/pair. Considering that BootayBag’s undies are also well made with detailed lace styles, I think $6 per pair is more than reasonable!
All-in-all, if you’re able to find your size, I definitely recommend trying out BootayBag. As a first timer trying out an underwear subscription, all I can say is that it makes undie shopping a whole lot easier, not to mention a heck of a lot more fun!
