REVIEW: Clove + Hallow Lipsticks & Glazes + Swatches

Thanks to Glossybox, I now have a new green, non-toxic beauty brand on my radar – Clove + Hallow. They’re a just-budding brand with a few staple products in the line-up so far, including a concealer, powder foundation, and 3 lip products. The best part? All of their products are PETA-certified cruelty-free and vegan, and made with natural and organic ingredients.

Clove + Hallow Lip Glaze in Angelic

Clove + Hallow Lip Glaze in Spicy

Clove + Hallow Lip Glaze (99% Natural, 64% Organic) – Clove + Hallow’s Lip Glazes deliver a gorgeous wash of color topped with a healthy dose of shine. Now, I’m not a huge fan of glosses as most tend to feel goopy and sticky, but these are just the opposite. They’re lightweight, smooth, and non-sticky. Formulated with natural olive oil, jojoba oil and shea butter, they also double as a hydrating treatment for the lips. Their pigmentation is buildable – apply one coat for a sheer wash of color, along with a touch of shine and hydration. Or, layer it up for coverage that mimics the look of a stain. The shade Spicy is bright warm pink (a great shade for spring and summer), while Angelic is a neutral pale pink that pairs beautifully with a smokey eye.

Clove + Hallow Lip Velvet in Uptown

Clove + Hallow Lip Velvet – The Lip Velvet lippies deliver rich, full-coverage color in a silky-smooth, mousse-like formula. Infused with coconut oil, shea butter and Vitamin E, they glide on smoothly, feel weightless and comfortable, and provide a non-drying matte finish. The application process is practically foolproof – what I like to do is apply one quick swipe with the wand, and then use my finger to spread it out over my lips for a smudged lip look. They also have amazing staying power – they’re smear-proof once set, and last through eating and drinking with very gradual, even fading. The shade Uptown is deep rose-mauve that I tend to grab for evenings out. (Note: This shade appears much more muted on my hand when swatched, while on my lips it tends to look a tad brighter, almost like a dark raspberry.)

Clove + Hallow Lip Crème in Desert Rose

Clove + Hallow Lip Crème (91% Natural, 24% Organic) – Clove + Hallow’s Lip Crèmes provide full-coverage color in a creamy, ultra-nourishing formula. With a combination of natural and organic jojoba, castor and sunflower oils, they hydrate and smooth the lips like a balm. They’re also richly pigmented, and coat the lips in even, full-on color in just one swipe. Topped off with a healthy-looking satin finish, this lippie has easily become my everyday go-to. The shade Desert Rose is a neutral, medium rosy-nude that I imagine being universally flattering for all skin tones.
