Have you noticed the new Diet Coke bottles got a makeover?! That’s right – for a limited time, these bottles are available in some pretty funky and colorful packaging. What’s even cooler about these new Diet Coke ‘It’s Mine’ bottles is that they all have unique designs – no two bottles are the same. Sounds pretty awesome, right? So of course I had to pick a few up for myself – heck, these could even be collector items some day! As I took them out and admired the one-of-a-kind bottle designs, I got to thinking, why not create a makeup look around my favorite one? If you’re interested in seeing the full look, and a step-by-step tutorial on how to re-create it, keep on reading!
Now, being a bit of a techy, I was at first very interested in learning how Coca-Cola was able to print out all these unique designs. It turns out they used HP’s new Indigo digital printing technology as part of their design development and bottle production process. First, Diet Coke created 36 base designs inspired by the bubbles, fizz, taste, and spirit of Diet Coke. HP’s software then used these designs to auto-generate millions of entirely new graphics. Pretty cool!
Alright, so now that we’ve learned how Diet Coke made their new ‘It’s Mine’ bottles, let me walk you through how I created a makeup look to match my favorite bottle design. By the way, can you guess which one it was? If you guessed the coral and teal bottle – then you guessed right! I was drawn to it because of its Spring shades, like teal and coral, as well as its vintage vibe. So without further ado, here’s how I created my Diet Coke ‘It’s Mine’ design-inspired makeup look.
Tutorial
Step 1: Applying your base as usual (i.e. foundation, concealer, brow products, etc).
Now let’s start with the eyes. This is where I’ve incorporated the teal and green colors from the bottle. Follow the illustrations (plus fully outlined steps further on below) to complete the look.
Step 3: Apply a green shimmer eyeshadow all over the lid and in the crease. I used MAC’s ‘Humid’ eyeshadow.
Step 4: Next, blend out the crease using a matte taupe shade.
Step 5: Apply a deep teal eyeshadow (like MAC’s ‘Aquadisiac’ shadow) to the outer 1/3 of the eye using your fingers to really pack it on. Then, take a small amount of the green shadow on your finger and press it over where the teal and green shadows meet. This will soften the transition between the two shades.
Step 6: Take the green shadow again and apply it on the middle of the lower lash line, and then apply on the teal shade on the outer 1/3.
Step 7: Apply a black liquid liner across the top lash line and draw in a small wing at the end.
Step 8: To finish the eyes, apply a black mascara to both the top and bottom lashes.
Now let’s move onto the lips and cheeks, where I’ve incorporated the bottle’s coral color into my look.
Step 9: Apply a coral blush shade to the tops of the cheeks along the cheekbone. I used Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Blush in the shade ‘Blissful’.
Step 10: Finally, apply a coral lipstick shade to the lips to complete the look! Here, I used a MAC lipstick in the shade ‘Fleur d’Coral’.
Look, now we match! 🙂
