Today I’m sharing my new favorites from e.l.f. Cosmetics – their effortless, multi-tasking Lip Lacquers. Here’s my review along with some swatches of Praline and Tea Rose – two gorgeous shades for summer.

The e.l.f. Lip Lacquers essentially combine a lip tint, lip gloss, and lip balm, all rolled into one. They offer a decent amount of pigmentation – the two medium shades I tried (Praline and Tea Rose) reach near full-coverage when applied in one generous coat. (Though I have heard the darkest shade – Burgundy – takes several extra coats to build up). Alternatively, you can dab them on lightly for a sheer hint of color. True to their name, these lippies also have a lacquer-like, high shine finish that I find to be very wearable and not too over-the-top, with zero glitter/shimmer.
Formula-wise, the e.l.f. Lip Lacquers are a lot like lip glosses, only they’re not at all tacky. Instead, they have a buttery-soft consistency that’s incredibly moisturizing, thanks to ingredients like cocoa seed butter, grape seed oil, sunflower seed oil, and avocado oil. (I have super dry lips and these smooth them on contact, and keep them soft and hydrated long after the formula has worn away.) And like most of e.l.f.’s lip products, the Lip Lacquers have a subtle sweet scent and vanilla-like flavor.
The glossy formula lasts about as long as your average gloss (1-2 hours). However, the color actually adheres to the lips (working almost like a stain) and lasts for a good 3-4 hours.

Overall, at just two dollars, you can’t beat these lippies. They pack a lip tint/stain, gloss, and balm all-in-one, and are especially great if you have dry lips and have trouble wearing regular lipsticks or stains. I know I’ll be trying out more shades – ‘Hot Commodity’ is next on my list!
