Keeping our Furry Friends Healthy with FreshPet

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Freshpet for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

You may have read my blog post a few weeks back where I talked about my new fitness and nutrition plan for 2018.  After literally months of hibernating in my apartment and struggling to nail down a solid workout routine, I can’t even begin to describe how good it feels to start exercising again on a regular basis!  I’ve already begun to notice gradual improvements in my strength and stamina, and combined with a new diet filled with fresh foods to fuel and nourish my body, I’m feeling my healthiest and strongest so far this year.

My pets on the other hand? Well they always seem to have the energy to play around and exercise.  Their diet however, is entirely up to me, so I’ve been trying to fit in healthier alternatives for them too whenever I can.  And thanks to Freshpet, they make it super easy!

Freshpet is a brand I’ve been turning to for a while now whenever I want to feed my pets healthier, fresher meals involving minimal prep.  Every one of their recipes uses all-natural ingredients like 100% US farm-raised meat, plus loads of antioxidant-packed berries and veggies.

Their Home Cooked Chicken Recipe, for example, has real chicken, cranberries, carrots, pea protein, and ground oats at the very top of the ingredients list, so I know Oliver is getting plenty of protein and nutrients. It really looks and smells like a home cooked meal too – heck, I wouldn’t hesitate to put it on a sandwich for myself! 😛

Have a smaller sized pup at home? Freshpet’s Tender Chicken Recipe for Small Dogs is made specially for them.  It comes in smaller bite-sized morsels and packs plenty of protein and fat to support small dog high energy requirements, with chicken, chicken liver, carrots, pea protein, and egg at the top of its ingredients list.

I also love that there are no preservatives in Freshpet’s food – their meals simply stay fresh in the fridge.  On top of that, their recipes are free from the additives and fillers typically found in dried food – like pre-processed meat powders, meat meals, and by-products – and many of them (including these two chicken recipes) are also grain, gluten, and soy-free.

Waiting patiently… 🙂

Once meal time rolls around, I’ll measure out about a cup of food for Oliver. You can literally see the bright carrots and cranberries packed inside, and the recipe itself smells so fresh and delicious. It must taste pretty good too because he gobbles it up in literally seconds before I even get a chance to sit down and enjoy my food!  You can even see him licking the plate afterwards to make sure he gets every last bite! 😛

I can’t wait to have Oliver try out some of Freshpet’s other recipes once he’s finished up this one – I always like to add some variety to their diet too and Freshpet offers quite a few healthy options for our furry friends! 🙂
