Hi guys! So today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite healthy smoothie recipes. I love drinking smoothies – they’re such a quick and easy way to get your daily veggies and fruits, and they also make for great pre- and post-workout snacks. Plus, with Pinterest and all the food blogs out there, you can literally find hundreds of smoothie recipes within minutes. All you need are the basics (like milk, yogurt, fruit, veggies, honey, and seeds), a good blender, and you’re good to go!
The one I’m sharing here is my go-to smoothie in the morning – it’s like a cup of orange juice on steroids. 😉 And don’t be afraid of the greens – the sweetness of the orange juice completely masks the bitterness of the veggies (spinach or kale – whichever you prefer!) Keep reading to find out how to make it!
Ingredients:
- 1 fresh or frozen banana
- 2 cups spinach (or kale)
- 1/4 cup milk (any kind works, including coconut, almond, dairy, soy, etc.)
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 1 tbsp flax seed meal (optional)
- 1 tbsp coconut oil (optional)
(For a thinner smoothie, add in a little extra milk and orange juice.)
Directions:
Add all the ingredients into a blender or blending cup (I personally prefer to use my Ninja Blender, which comes with the handy cups you see below).
Blend on high until the texture is smooth and thick. If your blender is not powerful enough to fully blend all the spinach, finish by straining the smoothie through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother texture.
Pour into a glass, mason jar, or travel mug (if you’re on the go), and enjoy! 🙂
