My Julep Maven box for June was full of little surprises this month – I received four fun nail polish shades that I know I’ll be wearing all throughout the Summer. One of the shades I added to my Maven box was Julep Isabela – a refreshing bright blue that didn’t come close to anything in my current nail polish collection.
The Color
Julep Isabela is described on their website as a ‘Amparo blue crème’. I had to look up exactly what ‘Amparo blue’ was – apparently it’s a ‘strong blue to brilliant purplish blue’.
I definitely agree with that description – the blue tone is bold and adds a real pop of color to your nails. In warmer lighting, a slight purple tone does make it’s way into the overall shade.
The above photos show the ‘strong blue’ you’d expect to see when the nail polish is in natural lighting.
My Review
In terms of the application, it only takes two coats to achieve a nice opaque finish. The nail polish is actually quite pigmented, enough so that you could get away with just one heavy coat.
The formula of the Julep Isabela polish is amazing. It glides on smoothly and is a breeze to apply, plus it dries pretty quickly.
Lastly, I’d say the longevity is pretty good. On me, it lasted three days before it started chipping on one nail. I’d expect this to last about a week with a top coat.
Overall, Isabela is another new favorite of mine for Summer. The bold blue color is gorgeous, a little modern looking, and adds a noticeable pop of color that I think would look good all year-round.
Isabela nail polish is available on Julep’s website for $14.00 or, if you’re a Julep Maven, you can get it for a little cheaper ($11.20). (If you’re interested in becoming a Julep Maven, you can join here and get your first welcome box for free!)
