Eye masks are quickly becoming a new obsession of mine. These moisture-infused gel pads work as instant refreshers for the undereyes, and are welcome treats after a stressful day, late night out, or during a long trip. These days, you can find them pretty everywhere and in any price range – from drugstore to super high-end. They all have one main thing in common and that’s that they moisturize and soothe the eye area. However, some brands take their formulations a bit further by adding unique ingredients for added benefits – one being Diamonds.
Why Diamonds?
Diamonds, and gemstones in general, have been popping up here and there in skincare over the last few years. By crushing these precious stones into a super fine powder, they can be added to skincare to provide physical benefits (and supposedly metaphysical benefits as well). Diamonds in particular are known for their ability to exfoliate, moisturize, and also prevent collagen degradation, hence why skincare brand’s are infusing them in their anti-aging lines, including Kristals Cosmetics ‘Anti-Gravity’ skincare line.

Within their Anti-Gravity skincare line, Kristals Cosmetics has applied diamond’s to one of the main areas of concern when it comes to aging – the eyes. They’ve created the Diamond Anti-Gravity Spark Eye Masks, which contain not only real diamond powder, but also a multi-tasking blend of hydrating oils and flower and plant extracts that work to brighten, moisturize, plump, smooth, and soften skin.

Kristals Cosmetics’ Diamond Eye Mask Review
The Diamond Anti-Gravity Spark Eye Masks were featured in December’s Glossybox – complete with not one, but two pairs to try out. Needless to say, I was anxious to take these babies out for a test drive!
The mask itself is made up of a soft silicone that’s soaked in a lightweight, non-greasy solution. It’s actually very comfortable to wear, and creates a slight warming sensation on the skin as it sits. The only downside is that due to its weight and slipperiness, it tends to slowly slide down the skin, which is why I find it best to lay down during the full 15 minutes.
After my first treatment, I noticed an instant improvement in the texture of my skin – it felt amazingly soft and smooth. Visually, my entire under eye area looked smoother, with a slight reduction in fine lines. Now, these results are pretty typically across all eye masks, however where this diamond mask stood out the most for me was its plumping and firming abilities. The area under my eyes looked fuller and also felt tighter, which gave them a more youthful appearance all around. Combine that with the soft-focus finish the formula leaves behind (plus little diamond sparkles – if you look closely, you can see three in the last after photo!), and I was already looking forward to my next treatment!
I also want to mention that, although I used this treatment two days ago, the smoothing and softening effects have so far lasted me since then!
Final Thoughts
Overall, was I impressed with my first treatment and results? Yes! Is this a product I’d gladly add to my monthly skincare routine? Absolutely!
But let’s be realistic…at $33 per mask, these don’t come cheap. So are they worth the spurge? Considering this tops pretty much any mask you can find at Sephora and higher-end beauty shops (with the average at ~$15 per pair), it’s hard to justify spending double. The truth is, there are many other ingredients out there that can smooth, plump, and lift the eye area, and they don’t cost nearly as much. So for that, I wouldn’t recommend stretching your budget just to fit in diamond-infused skincare.
Personally, since eye masks are little pleasures I plan to enjoy more than once per month, I’ll be on the lookout for a comparable yet less expensive alternative (hint hint – more eye mask reviews coming soon!). However, if cost was completely out of the picture, you betcha I’d be using these every month!
