If you’re a follower of my blog and/or my social media accounts, you probably know how much I love minimal, natural makeup looks. The products I use most often not only provide a light yet effective amount of coverage, but they usually have a little something extra – like natural ingredients that nourish and enhance your skin. That’s why I like BB/CC/DD creams and tinted moisturizers so much, especially in the Summer. So when I received a sample of the Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow in a recent Birchbox, I was excited to give it a go, especially after reading about its beneficial ingredients.
Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow
The Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow is a multi-tasking skin enhancer. According to Marcelle’s website, the Beauty Balm consists of self-adjusting pigments, powerful antioxidants, plus aloe and chamomile, which, when combined, do the following for your skin:
- Provides a healthy glow effect with just the right hint of illumination
- Evens out skin tone
- Offers immediate and long-term hydrating benefits
- Protects from premature aging and environmental stresses
- Promotes skin regeneration
- Soothes and calms
- Reduces the appearance of imperfections
- Controls shine
How to apply: Using your fingers, smooth a few dabs of the BB cream over clean skin. Blend in with your fingers, or a brush.
Swatches
Below is a swatch of the Marcelle BB Cream, followed by a photo of the BB Cream blended in. Just on my hand, can see the slight shimmer, sheen, and glow that this cream creates. The BB cream is quite golden-toned – I’d compare it to NC30-35 shade in MAC terms. (Just for reference, I’m about an NC25-27.)
Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow Review
The formula of the BB Cream is somewhat thick, so I find it best to apply with your fingers, and then blend it out with a dense foundation brush. The formula also contains a very small amount of glitter and shimmer (you can see some of the specks in the photo above, which was taken in direct sunlight). While the shimmer is not that noticeable, even for someone looking at you up close, it definitely helps add to the overall ‘glowy’ look produced by this cream.
In terms of longevity, the Marcelle BB cream lasts fairly long once applied. I found it stays put for 8+ hours, even on a pretty hot Summer day. I can’t say that it helped control shine though – my face did get slightly oily after a few hours. So make a note to bring some blotting papers with you if you’ll be wearing this all day, especially if it’s hot out.
Coverage-wise, the Marcelle BB Cream is surprisingly pigmented and not only enhances your natural skin color, but also conceals redness very well (check out the difference on my nose!). I’d put this cream in the range of lighter-coverage foundations, which is definitely decent for a BB cream. The one golden shade that it comes in works well with lighter tones (like mine), all the way to olive/medium toned skin.
Overall, the Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow is a great product if you’re looking for light coverage plus some extra benefits (my favorite being the aloe and chamomile that’s included in the formula, which helps calm, hydrate, and nourish your skin). For a BB cream, it lasts and performs amazingly well when it comes to evening out redness and skin tone. Plus, it adds a beautiful, golden tone to your skin (especially for those of us with slightly paler skin tones).
