One thing I love about subscribing to Birchbox is that you get to test out products from a range of brands, including ones that you’ve never tried or maybe even heard of before. For example, in one of my more recent boxes I received two products by Marcelle, a Canadian makeup and skincare brand that I’m surprised I never came across before!
After testing out both their products, I wanted to share with you my review of the Marcelle eyeliner, which I’ve been using quite a bit lately. So first, let’s get into the products details, and then move on to my review.
Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner
What It Is
As described on Marcelle’s website, their eyeliner pencils have a creamy formula which allows you to draw a precise line and then blend it out however you desire. The Marcelle Waterproof eyeliner is richly pigmented and delivers intense color (as you can see from the ‘Electric Blue‘ shade below!). The liner is waterproof and stays put all day long, even through humidity, sweat, water, and heat. The Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner pencils are available in a both matte and pearlized finishes, and are hypo-allergenic and perfume free.
How to Apply
Just as you’d apply your typical eyeliner, the Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner can be applied by gently sweeping the pencil across the lash line. And since the eyeliner is quite soft, you don’t need to press too hard on the lid. You can then smudge out the eyeliner at any point after you’ve applied it for a smokier look.
Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner Review
Just as described on their website, the Marcelle Waterproof eyeliner applies like a dream. It glides on very smoothly without dragging or skipping areas on the lash line. For me, this definitely saves some time – I only have to do one or two quick swipes over the eye, and I’m set! I also like to blend out my liners, and again, I find this very easy to accomplish using my finger or a smudge brush.
The pigmentation is also amazing. The swatch in the above photo shows the color payoff you’d expect after just a few quick swipes. As you can see, the ‘Electric Blue’ shade is also incredibly vibrant (there are 6 more ‘vibrant’ shades available, ranging from purples to blues to greens).
Lastly, I wanted to talk about longevity. For me, this eyeliner stays put all day, though I did notice a little bit of smudging after a few hours of applying it, but only in my outer corners (you can sort of see this in the photos – it’s not as defined as when I first applied the liner). The formula is waterproof and also resists a light amount of rubbing (though it will start to come off if you rub it while it’s wet).
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’ve been getting a lot of use out of this eyeliner! I’m especially loving the bright blue shade I received (it’s a fun color to play with for sure!). In my opinion, the application and pigmentation is better than some of my Urban Decay eyeliner pencils, and for the price ($10.95), you really can’t beat it!
The Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner comes in a range of colors. Personally, I’m anxious to try out their ‘Metal Green‘ shade, which is a dark green matte color (I expect it would look nice with brown eyes). No matter your eye color, they have a shade that will complement your eyes, from taupe and copper, to blue, green and purple, and even your basic black.
