My May 2015 Birchbox came sooner than I expected! Straight out of the box (and while driving in my car!), I started testing out some of the little samples in this ‘Cupcakes and Cashmere’ inspired box.
This month’s Birchbox featured five samples across all different categories, including hair, body, face, makeup, and perfume products. The samples were also somewhat summer-inspired, especially the fruity/floral Harvey Prince perfume, Dr. Jart+ day tint with SPF and Parlor sea salt spray for that beach-y, low-maintenance hair look.
As part of the ‘Cupcakes & Cashmere’ inspired box, Birchbox included a coupon code for 15% off your order from Domino.com (an online home decor, furniture, and accessory shop), plus a special offer to receive the Cupcake & Cashmere at Home book by Emily Schuman with any $55+ order from the Birchbox Shop.
Now let’s check out the samples…
Juara Candlenut Body Creme – Full size, $35.00 – I had never heard of Candlenut oil prior to receiving this product, but it seems to work incredibly well! The formula is quite velvety and goes on so smoothly. I used this on my legs and not only did it absorb quickly without feeling greasy, but it also kept my skin moisturized for the whole day!
Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Day Tint – Full size, $48.00 – This tint can be worn either alone or under makeup. It provides hydration, SPF 15 sun protection, and a (very) sheer tint to cover imperfections. I like the concept of this because I often times need that extra moisture on my face to smooth everything out before I apply my foundation, especially in the winter. In the summer, I think this may be quite the perfect little multi-tasker by taking the place of both my moisturizer and foundation.
Benefit Lollibalm – Full size, $18.00 – I’m already in love with this lip balm! It’s so moisturizing, leaves just the slightest purple-pink sheer tint, and it smells like flowers! I’ve been using this on and off over the past couple days, and I’ve noticed that my lips stay hydrated long after I’ve applied it (which is unusual for me – I feel like with other balms, I have to constantly re-apply them once they wear off – nothing is quite lasting).
PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing Sea Salt Spray – Full size, $24.00 – I absolutely love the smell of this spray. I haven’t tried it out yet, but I’m definitely going to test it out and compare it to the multitudes of other sea salt sprays that I’ve accumulated recently (I must have 5-6 sample sized sea salt sprays between Glossybox, Birchbox, and Ispy sub boxes!) Updates to come!
Harvey Prince Sincerely Perfume – Full size, $26-$55 – Although I wasn’t crazy about this particular scent (personally, I prefer more earthy scents, and this one is a mix of fruity and floral), it is sort of growing on me just due to it’s uniqueness. It has decent staying power (lasts about 4-6 hours on me), and is light enough for summer, yet is still noticeable with just one or two sprays.
Once again, I’m very happy about the samples I received in the May 2015 Birchbox. I received a nice mix of high quality products to test out, and already have two of them saved in my Birchbox shopping cart for the future. 🙂
