I love Target. It’s my favorite one-stop shop for grocery, office, household essentials, and of course – beauty products! They stock some of my favorites brands like NYX, Pixi, e.l.f, Cover Girl, Boots No.7, and now derma e. So this month, I decided to take my first trip out to Target this year and grab a few new goodies, including some new skincare I’ve been wanting to try. So here’s my mini Target haul that I thought I’d share with you!
Alright, so first up are a few unexpected goodies that I picked up whole browsing the little bins in the very front of the store. There were a lot of stationary items along with some ‘Valentine’s Day’ decorations and treats, all priced anywhere from $1-$3. Since it’s the new year, I picked up a monthly calendar ($1!) to hopefully get me to stay a little more organized this year! 😉 I also saw a cute little set of blank cards and envelopes ($3) which make for great ‘handwritten’ thank you notes (I plan to start going ‘old school’ with my letters/thank you notes this year, to add a more personal touch compared to just texting!) And finally, I saw a set of tiny V-day clothespins, which I figured I’d use to hang printed photos along a string for a fun decoration (no use in keeping all my digital photos on my computer!).
Also, since I’ll be celebrating my birthday this month, I decided to celebrate early with a little treat. 😉 I found a fun gourmet gum in the flavor ‘Birthday Cake’ – they’re so yummy, like eating cake without the sugar rush!
Next up, I wandered into the beauty aisle – this is where my boyfriend and I will part ways for a while. He’ll go explore the cooking aisles (which I have no interest in, at the moment!), and I’ll explore the beautifully lit aisles of makeup, false lashes, nail polish, and more indulgences that I don’t necessarily need half the time. My first stop – the Sally Hansen nail polish section. I love these polishes, and since Target has the best prices I’ve found (~$7.20 each), I’ll typically pick one while I’m there. This time, I decided to go for something a bit bolder than my normal of nudes, reds, and lilacs. I ended up getting a deep blue shade called ‘Beatrix’. I applied it almost as soon as I got home – here’s a peek at the shade!
The final product I picked up from the beauty aisles was something I actually needed – an eye cream. I’ll be turning 28 this month, and while I don’t mind the occasion lines and wrinkles here and there (it’s a reflection of all the wisdom and experience we’ve accumulated throughout the years of course!), I still like to have soft, smooth looking under-eyes that are well hydrated (especially in the dry Winter months). Now, I’d tried some mid to high end brands like Philosophy and Ole Henriksen, but nothing really seemed to help (especially long term). So I pick up the derma e Firming DMAE Eye Lift cream – for only $24.95, you get a .5 oz tube, which will last about 4-6 months depending on how often you use it. Not bad considering Ole Henriksen Total Truth eye cream and Philosophy’s Renewed Hope in a Jar are both in the $45-51 range for .5 oz!
The derma e products arrived at Target just last month, along with three of their facial moisturizers. What attracted me to derma e is that they offer natural skincare products that are 100% vegan, paraben free, and cruelty free. Their products are packed with natural-goodness like vitamins and plants, which is exactly what I look for in my skincare products. The derma e Firming DMAE Eye Lift in particular claims to ‘visibly lift, firm and tighten the eye area while smoothing crow’s feet through its pro-collagen and pro-elastin blend’. This super quick Youtube video explains it all:
The eye lift cream uses natural ingredients, including:
- DMAE – clinically proven to boost collagen for firmer, more resilient skin
- InstaLift Goji Berry glycopeptides – adds further firming, lifting and tightening antioxidant power
- Advanced peptides Argireline® and Matrixyl® synthe’6® – softens facial muscles and synthesizes new key components such as collagen, helping smooth wrinkles and discourage new lines from forming
- Hyaluronic Acid – leaves skin soft, smooth, tone and rehydrated
The first thing I like about the derma e Firming DMAE Eye Lift cream is just how smoothly it applies – you don’t have to pull or tug, and it takes the smallest amount to cover your whole eye area. It also absorbs within seconds and creates a smooth, hydrated base for your concealer, making it a new essential part of my morning routine. After about a week of applying this once or twice a day, I started to notice a difference in my overall eye area. It felt soft, smoother, and more hydrated overall (which is huge, especially in these Winter months when my under-eye area can get flaky). I also noticed a different in my fine lines – they didn’t appear as deep-set and actually looked like they were smoothing out and filling in.
Overall, I had an enjoyable little trip to Target and am particular happy with my new skincare find! I’m looking forward to trying out more natural/vegan skincare products from derma e in the near future. If natural skincare is something you’re passionate about too, make sure to check out derma e at Target the next time you’re there! #NOTICETHELOTUS 🙂
