I’ve been shopping more and more for clothes over at Nordstrom lately, partly because of all the amazing, high-quality brands they offer, and also because of the frequent sales and free shipping/return. But as much as I’d love to sit back with a glass of wine and browse their website in its entirety (which they’re constantly updating with new styles and markdowns), most weeks I just don’t have the time. I mean, they have literally thousands of items to explore! That’s why I’ve been loving their Trunk Club personal stylist service. They do all the shopping for you, not to mention, I find it so fun to try out items that I wouldn’t have picked out for myself!
New to the Trunk Club? Here’s how it works:
- Create Your Profile: Sign up over at Trunkclub.com and complete a little survey that covers size, style, and spending preferences.
- Meet Your Personal Stylist: You’ll be assigned your own personal stylist who will handpick items for you based on your profile. You can also chat with them directly to get style advice, provide feedback on boxes, or request specific items.
- Order a Trunk: Order a ‘Trunk’ whenever you need a wardrobe refresh for a $25 styling fee – there’s no subscription required. (And bonus: the styling fee is waived if you use a Nordstrom credit or debit card).
- Preview Your Trunk: Your stylist will put together ~12 items and email you a preview of your Trunk. Make changes or requests before signing off!
- Try Everything On: Your Trunk should arrive within 3–6 business days. You’ll then have five days to try everything on. Expect to receive piece from high-quality brands like Paige, Madewell, Frame, Joie, Theory, and more, with prices typically in the $50-$300 range (you can set your budget in the survey). If you find anything you want to keep, the $25 deposit will get applied as a credit!
- Pack it Up: Pack up what you don’t want to keep. The box comes with tape strips and a pre-paid return label to make this super easy! You can also schedule a free pickup from UPS. Shipping is free both ways (within the contiguous U.S., Alaska and Hawaii).
- Re-order a new Trunk whenever you want!
I tried out a box back in July and decided to come back for another one for August! Here’s a look at all the pieces my stylist picked up for me this month…
Free People Floral Square Neck Thong Bodysuit ($68) – I’ve been on the lookout for bodysuits for the longest time to pair up with high-waisted jeans – they just look so seamless and sexy! I really liked this one – from the pattern and square neck line, to the super stretchy and comfy material. The only issue for me was the thong bottom – I just don’t find them particularly comfortable. Size-wise, it runs a bit small – I’m 30D, 27 waist and I’m wearing a size XS, which fit very tight on me. I recommend sizing up!
Also available at Lord & Taylor & Dillard’s
Madewell 10-Inch High Waist Skinny Jeans ($128) – I’m such a fan of Madewell jeans! These in particular were amazing quality and I love the dark wash for fall. They fit nice and tapered too, and can be cuffed at the bottom to wear as crops on warmer days. I got these in a size 27 (I typically wear either a 27 or 28) and they fit a bit tight on me. If you’re in-between sizes like me, definitely go with the larger of the two!

Halogen Pleat Peplum Tank ($39, on sale for $23.40) – This top is the perfect mix of casual and chic. It’s very comfy and breezy, while the pleat peplum adds a feminine touch and a bit of swing to the bottom. I could imagine wearing this on weekends, and then paired them with heels and skinny jeans for night out. It is a bit see-through though, so it needs to be layered over a tank, or a nude bra. It fits true-to-size (I typically wear XS in Halogen, but am wearing a small here, which is quite loose). Also available in black and purple.
Madewell Small Transport Leather Crossbody ($128) – This bag is the perfect size for everyday! It has enough room for your phone, wallet, and makeup bits. The adjustable strap can be worn crossbody or over one shoulder, or you can use the little handles and carry it as a mini tote. It’s also made out of the softest leather and has very clean, minimal detailing and stitching – it almost gives it a handmade look. I only wish the top had a zipper closure instead of a push-tab. Also comes in wine, beige, grey, and black.

O’Neill Jude Print Tie Hem Top ($54) – This is another great top that you can take from day to evening. It has a wrap-front, plunging v-neck, and 70’s style bell sleeves (which may not be the most practical for a dinner date, but they’re fun and look gorgeous for dancing or cocktail hour!) It’s made out of a jersey knit, so it’s amazingly soft and comfy too. I got this in a size small (my usual size in O’Neill), but could have sized down to an XS for a slimmer fit since it’s very stretchy.
Halogen Strappy Tie Back Camisole ($45, on sale now for $26.98) – I love these little printed camis – they’re great transition pieces from summer into fall, and can be wore alone or layered under jackets for an evening out, or even to work. This one in particular is made of a heavier fabric and has a satin-like finish that makes it look a little extra dressy. It fits true-to-size (I typically wear XS in Halogen, but am wearing a small here and it’s a tad loose). Also available in solid black and an ivory floral pattern.
Leith Body-Con Midi Dress ($59) – This is the perfect dress to slip on if you want a casual look that’s still sexy. It’s made out of a fairly thick but stretchy material that hugs every curve (seamless undies are a must with this one!) but is also very comfortable at the same time. The midi length also makes it look a bit more modest and wearable for everyday outings. I especially love this mauve color, but if you’re looking for something more forgiving, it also comes in black. I typically wear a size XS in Leith dresses, but I got this in a size small and the fit was spot-on. Definitely size up!
Madewell Emmett Crop Wide Leg Jeans ($110) – This was much first time trying wide leg pants – in my 30 years, I’ve never worn jeans like these before! I have to say though, these are fun to wear and also very comfy if you’ve been wearing skinny jeans like me for the past 10+ years! They’re made of a really soft, stretchy, and lightweight material – much different from dark denim Madewell pair I tried earlier. They’re also very loose fitting and let your legs breathe! They do run large though – I got these in a size 27 (I’m usually either a 27 or 28), but they were surprisingly loose in the waist. For a slightly snugger fit all around, size down one!

Marc Fisher Alida Espadrille Platform Wedge ($149.94) – These are the comfiest little platforms and they look so 70’s! The top heel is only 2″ while the full platform measures in at 4″, giving them a whole lot of height without the added pressure on your feet! They also hold the feet in nice and snug and are fairly easy to walk in (with maybe a little bit of practice if you aren’t used to wearing platforms.) Here I’m wearing the shade ‘Natural Multi Suede’, which looks less orange-y/red than on website. It also comes in tons of other neutral colors! Size-wise, these seems to run a bit small. I typically wear a size 9 in heels and sandals. In these, however, size 9 was a tad too snug and short.
TOMS Majorca Sandal ($108.95) – Here’s another super comfortable heel that would transition perfectly from summer into fall! They’d also would work well with practically any outfit – from jeans (like how I’m wearing them above with the Madewell dark denim pair) to dresses. I can’t get over how well these fit (they’re true-to-size) and how easy they are to walk in, and yet they still provide a decent amount of height with their 3 1/2″ stacked heel. Also available in black and light grey.
Kendra Scott Leanor Pendant Necklace ($60) – And finally, we have a little accessory by one of my favorite jewelry designers – Kendra Scott. She makes some of the most versatile pieces featuring gorgeous stones and crystals. This necklace is more on the minimalist side, with a lightweight delicate chain and a slim, slate cats eye pendant. The Leanor pendant also comes in other colors with different stones – my favorites are the druzy quartz ones!
