Petit Vour has me hooked. It’s an ingredient-conscience, cruelty-free, & vegan beauty box that’s packed with high-quality plus natural skincare, haircare, makeup, and more. For $15 a month, you get 4 deluxe-sized (and sometimes full-sized) products delivered to your door. They ship out to the US and Canada. So without further ado, let’s take a look into the samples I received in my May 2016 Petit Vour box!
Petit Vour May 2016 Review
In total, my May 2016 Petit Vour box included 4 samples – 3 deluxe sized samples and 1 full size. They ranged from skincare, hair care, makeup, and even oral care. Here are the products I received, along with my initial impressions of each.
Bedrock & Bloom Smart Ash Teeth Whitener ($3) – I’m completely new to these activated charcoal teeth whiteners, but already I see myself using them daily. This one from Smart Ash is a safe, 100% natural way to lift stains and toxins from your teeth, using activated coconut shell charcoal as its main ingredient. The formula also works to strengthen, remineralize, and reverse sensitivity. And of course, it’s vegan and cruelty-free! It can be quite messy when opening the jar and putting it on your toothbrush (wish it came with a ‘lil spoon..hehe), but considering the organic, natural formulation and benefits, it’s well worth it!
Captain Blankenship Mermaid Sea Salt Hair Spray ($7) – This is a texturizing sea salt hair spray that can be used multiple ways to create beachy waves – from the scrunch-and-style method on both dry and wet hair, to a quick pre-braid spritz before bed (adds some extra hold to your waves after you’ve released your braid in the morning). Unlike other sea salt sprays, this one actually moisturizes and nourishes your hair, using organic ingredients like aloe vera and sea kelp extract. Combine that with a rosy beach scent (from the organic rose geranium and palmarosa) along with it’s gorgeous glass bottle and packaging, and I’ve just found my new favorite sea salt spray!
100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Satin Eye Shadow ($25) – This is my first time trying out 100% Pure – a vegan, cruelty-free, and 100% natural beauty brand that offers a line of fruit dyed makeup, including this fruit pigmented cream eyeshadow. The shade I got is ‘Maldives’, a pale vanilla-peach shade, which has actually been discontinued (I guess they had an extra supply to get rid of). At first I wasn’t too crazy about the color until I started using it as a base shadow paired with black winged eyeliner for some extra contrast, which turned out to be really pretty! It does crease quite a bit (which seems to be typical for most natural-based cream shadows), but considering it doubles as a sort of mini-moisturizer/treatment for the lids (with vitamins, antioxidants + other nutrients), I’m hesitant to put a primer between it and my skin. (Other subscribers may have received a lip product from Ecco Bella – the same one I got in my April box.)
Juice Beauty Green Apple Blemish Clearing Peel ($5) – I’ve tried Juice Beauty’s Green Apple Peel for Sensitive skin (thanks to a Birchbox sample), which made my skin feel amazing. However, since I don’t have super sensitive skin, I’m ready to step it up and try this slightly stronger formulation. It uses alpha/beta hydroxy organic fruit acids (instead of just alpha hydroxy organic fruit acids and glycolic acids in the Sensitive version) to exfoliate, repair, and heal skin for a clearer complexion and more even looking skin.
Final Thoughts
The May 2016 Petit Vour beauty box was another amazing, well-rounded box, full of vegan, cruelty-free products. I loved that so many of the products were also 100% natural, including the cream eyeshadow, sea salt hair spray, and teeth whitener. Box favs include the moisturizing sea salt spray (just in time for Summer!) and the full-sized 100% Pure cream eyeshadow. The total value of my box month came out to around $40 – well worth the $15 monthly cost!
