June is National Rose Month, so I thought it would be the perfect time to round-up some of my favorite rose-infused beauty products!
Now, you may be wondering what benefits roses have beyond just looking pretty on our vanity and smelling amazing. Turns out, rose – and its derivatives, including rose oil, rosehip seed oil, and rosewater – possess the ability to naturally nourish, hydrate, calm, clear, and protect skin of all types.
First starters, roses have both anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, so they may help calm and reduce redness associated with rosacea and even acne flare-ups. Rose extract also has astringent and antibacterial properties, so they help reduce oilies while fighting acne-causing bacteria. And when it comes to hydrating and firming the skin, rose extracts feed your skin with vitamin C (which helps stimulate collagen, brighten and protect skin, and so much more!) along with vitamin E (an amazing moisturizer and antioxidant that fights free radicals).
And if that wasn’t enough, beyond their skincare benefits, roses have been found to produce relaxing, mood-lifting effect, making them perfect any evening skincare ritual, or as a mid-day refresher whenever you’re feeling tense or stressed.
Keeping reading to discover my six favorite rose-infused beauty products, some old favorites, along with some new discoveries…
My Top Rose-Infused Skincare Products
Tammy Fender Bulgarian Rose Water
This is one of my all-time favorite ‘luxury’ facial mists. It’s 100% natural, with organic rose water and damask rose oil as its top two ingredients.
The scent comes as close to a real rose as you can get, without being too overpowering. I’ll find any excuse to reach for this, purely for its aromatherapy benefits! As far as skincare goes, it’s an amazingly soothing, gentle toner, and also doubles as a skin and makeup refresher throughout the day (I bought a separate little amber spray bottle for on-the-go spritzes!). $65 for 6oz
Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist
Another favorite rose-infused face mist! This one is slightly more budget-friendly, but equally as refreshing and soothing (and also 100% natural!). In addition to damask rose water, it contains coconut and aloe leaf water, hibiscus flower petals, and witch hazel to help hydrate, soften, and tone. Use during your skincare routine, as a makeup setting spray, or as a refresher throughout the day!
The scent of this one is very subtle, so if you’re not a big fan of rose or scents in general, but still want to reap the skincare benefits, I’d highly recommend trying out a bottle! You can grab a travel size here which is great for testing! $32 for 4oz, 16 for 2oz
Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Mask
I’m a huge fan of PTR’s masks, and this rose one is my absolute favorite. It’s packed with five rose plant stem cells, plus four rose extracts—rosa damascena, rosa canina, rose hip seed, and rose water—making one powerful concoction that soothes, hydrates, refreshes, strengthens, and helps diminish signs of aging.
The gel formula feels incredibly soothing (especially if you pop it in the fridge beforehand!), and leaves my skin noticeably softer, smoother, plumper, and more youthful-looking after every use. $52
Mamonde Hydrating Beauty Water
This beauty water makes the perfect ultra-gentle toner. Formulated with 100% organic damask rose extracts, it helps balance the skin, but at the same time, it also helps hydrate, nourish, soothe and calm.
I’ve been using this on its own in the mornings to wipe any leftover makeup, oil, or gunk from the night before. It feels so gentle and refreshing (and smells very relaxing!). And best of all, it doesn’t sting or leave my skin feeling stripped or tight afterwards. $23
Korres Wild Rose Brightening Oil
I’ve been a fan of Korres’s skincare ever since I tried out their Greek Yogurt Sleeping Facial eons ago. To this day, their products continue to impress me – texture, smell, and results-wise – and their oil is no exception!
Inside this gorgeous glass bottle, you’ll find real rose petals, rosehip oil, and rose flower powder. The formula is also boosted with ‘super C’ to increase skin’s absorption of vitamin C by up to 1,000% to support natural collagen synthesis, brighten, repair, protect. It absorbs quickly and leaves my skin softer, smoother, and so glowy. It also works great layered under a moisturizer, or just on its own! $54
MV Skincare Rose Soothing Protective Moisturizer
I just started using this all-natural moisturizer from MV Skincare – both morning and evening – and after just one week, it has drastically improved my skin. It looks so much smoother, healthier, calmer, and more youthful (just what I needed in my routine after turning 30 this year!).
The formula is very rich, thick, and hydrating (I use mine mixed with a little face mist). Once absorbed, it leaves my skin noticeably smoother and softer to the touch. Best of all, it’s non-greasy and sets to a matte finish, making it a great base for makeup, especially powders! $120 for 70ml, $38 for 15ml
