With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I thought I’d share how to achieve a quick and easy smoky-glam look for Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re going out for a date night, or a night out with girls, this look can be easily reproduced, and only adds a few simple steps to your routine once you’ve applied your base. The keys to the look I’m about to walk you through are soft smoky eyes and classic red lip. So let’s get started!
Smoky Glam Valentine’s Day Look Tutorial
Base – Foundation, Concealer, Contour, & Brows
STEP 1. First, apply your base, including your foundation/concealer, brows, and a soft contour. For this tutorial, I used an everyday ‘base’ routine that you can find here.
Now it’s time to add some drama and color to your look in four easy steps.
Eyes – Shadow, Eyeliner, & Lashes
STEP 2: Use the The Rock Nudes Palette, a 12-shade eye shadow palette filled with smokey and shimmery shades that can be used to create an edgy, sultry, or daring look – whatever mood you’re in!
Here’s how to quickly create a soft smoky eye: Sweep the nude shade (bottom, 2nd in from the left) all over the eyelid for a nice base. Then use the deep purple shade (bottom, 3rd in from the left) in the crease and outer-v to add depth. Finally, grab the nude shade again and use it all over the crease to blend everything in.
STEP 3: Apply a black eyeliner to the top lash line, and add a slight wing to the end. I used the Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in Onyx.
STEP 4: Curl your lashes with a lash curler, and then apply the Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara. What’s cool is that it has a ‘push up’ cup brush with cup-shaped bristles that actually scoops and lifts lashes. It also uses a new creamy ‘plumping’ formula that adds instant volume and holds lift in place.
Now that we’re all done with the eyes – including winged liner, flirty lashes, and a soft smoky look – let’s move on to the lips!
Lips
STEP 5: Apply the Maybelline Color Sensational LipColor in a bright red shade like ‘Red Revolution’ for some real glam. Or, tone it down with a softer pink like ‘Hibiscus Pop’ (which I’ve reviewed here). I personally love this lipstick (my obsession started back when the RebelBloom shades came out!) – the color is so rich, and the formula is creamy and moisturizing thanks to the nourishing honey nectar.
Soft, smoky eyes, a soft contour, and bold lips make up my date-night look this Valentine’s Day! Be sure to check out Maybelline’s page, or stop by the Maybelline section at Walmart to explore more great products that you can use for your Valentine’s Day look!
