The Detox Box January 2018 Unboxing

The Detox Box January 2018 Review & Unboxing

If you’re looking to explore and try out more clean and green beauty products this year, there are tons of great monthly subscription boxes to try out, including a relatively new release – The Detox Box created by the folks over at The Detox Market.  What’s different about this box compared to some of the previous ones I’ve reviewed like Love Goodly, Petit Vour, Vegan Cuts, and Goodbeing is that The Detox Box focuses on one beauty brand per month, and selects roughly 1-3 of the brand’s very best, HG-worthy products that meet The Detox Market’s strict ingredient standards, as well as their high expectations for performance.  The products selected can be easily integrated into any skincare routine, and range from mists and masks, to serums and treatment oils.

‘We’re so excited to bring you The Detox Box—a monthly box that allows us to share with you our tried-and-true favorites and game-changing discoveries. Each month you’ll receive products that are universal and exceptional—you know, the “holy grails”. Products that have people complimenting your skin, and asking what you’re doing.’ – The Detox Market

The box costs $55 per month (and as low as $39.95 with a 6-month subscription), while the products inside value at over $90 (the last three boxes from October 2017 – December 2017 ranged in value from $97 to $149!).  The Detox Box is only ships within the US at this time, however they are opening it up to Canada this year (not sure exactly when).

Tammy Fender Bulgarian Rose Water & Epi-Peel The Detox Market The Detox Box January 2018 Review

This month’s box – the January 2018 box – featured products by Tammy Fender.  Combining her background as an aesthetician with plant science, traditional healing, holistic medicine, and medicinal chemistry, she designed a skincare collection that nourishes and heals skin on a cellular level using pure and potent active botanical ingredients.  The ingredients she uses are certified organic, cruelty-free, and sustainably harvested from the wild or grown in ways that minimize harm to the environment.

From Tammy Fender’s skincare collection, The Detox Market chose to include her luxurious rose water toner and her award-winning facial-in-a-jar treatment.

Tammy Fender Bulgarian Rose Water Review

Tammy Fender Bulgarian Rose Water

Deluxe size, Value: $15 for 1 oz

What it Does: The rejuvenating effects of Bulgarian Rose Water strengthen, hydrate, and tone delicate skin while balancing and restoring vital chi (energy), leaving the complexion supple and revitalized.  (Quick fact: Bulgarian Rose is the most valuable essential oil, taking 5-7,000 petals to produce one drop!)

I used this only a few times and already I’m in love!  The smell alone is divine, while the tonic itself feels so cool and refreshing on the skin, and adds a gorgeous, healthy glow after just 1-2 spritzes.  To works beautifully as a final step to an everyday skincare routine/makeup pre-step, as well as applied over makeup as a setting spray if you’re looking to get that healthy, subtly dewy look.  And of course it also works amazing as a little refresher (plus aromatherapy!) throughout the day.

Tammy Fender Epi-Peel Review

Tammy Fender Epi-Peel

Full-size, Value: $80 for 1.7 oz

What it Does: This advanced multi-tasking mask-peel fits almost all the elements of a facial into a jar, yet it only takes 5 minutes out of your day to reap the benefits!  It gently polishes and removes dead surface cells, eliminates impurities, refines the pores, and brightens.

Key ingredients:

  • Kaolin clay softens skin and refines pores
  • Watercress repairs damaged tissue and slows aging with Vitamins C and A, plus beta-carotene
  • Pure Moroccan Rosemary, Far West Native Spearmint and Panax Ginseng energize, decongest, clear, and oxygenate skin
  • Great Burdock detoxifies and counters impurities
  • Grapeseed oil and shea butter soften and soothe

This part-cream, part-scrub is loaded with micro-exfoliators that gently yet thoroughly smooth away rough skin without feeling abrasive.  Because they’re very fine grained, I’ve heard even people with sensitive skin are having luck with this one.  The creamier base where the physical exfoliators sit instantly softens the skin as it releases a refreshingly sweet (yet very subtle) citrus scent.  This tiny jar is indeed full-size, but fortunately, it only takes about a pea size or two to cover the whole face, so I expect it will last a good while (I sure hope so!).
