What could be better than finding a makeup product you love that also happens to be extremely affordable? As is the case with me and the Wet N Wild MegaLast Lipsticks. They’ve been around for several years now, and while I’m a little late to the game, I couldn’t be happier to have finally discovered them, especially one shade in particular – here’s why.
The Wet N Wild MegaLast Lipsticks are said to provide ‘4-hour, longwearing lip color’ and leaves ‘a semi-matte cream finish in one stroke’, and I would definitely agree. These lippies apply completely opaque with just one coat. The semi-matte formula is the perfection – it not at all drying or cakey, and feels incredibly comfortable on the lips. The extra hydrating ingredients (listed below) give the lipstick a little extra moisture boost, which helps smooth and plump the lips without accentuating lines or dry areas. The formula also really adheres to the lips, sort of becoming ‘one’ with them instead of sitting on top and feeling heavy or slippery (like other semi-matte lipsticks I’ve tried).
Hydrating skin-care ingredients inside the Wet N Wild MegaLast Lipsticks:
- Hyaluronic Microspheres – adhere to lips for long-lasting color
- Exclusive polymer complex – cushions and plumps lips
- Natural marine plant extracts coenzyme Q10 + vitamins A & E – smooths lips
As I looked over swatches online, I was immediately drawn to the Wet N Wild MegaLast Lipstick in Rosebud, thinking it would create a natural lip look with just the right pop of color. And I wasn’t wrong! Rosebud adds a medium rose-pink flush to the lips that looks natural and healthy, with just a little extra pop. For me, it’s the perfect shade, and creates that ‘my-lips-only-better’ kinda look. And actually, because it’s a fairly neutral shade with just a hint of natural warmth, I could see this working for pretty much any skin color or tone.

The lipstick stays on for a good 4-5 hours with no eating, and a bit less if I eat or drink a lot during the day. That comes out to around two applications per day – the first in the morning (and after breakfast), and then a re-application after lunch (and maybe once more if I happen to be out for dinner). Considering the application is a breeze (just one swipe and you’re done!) this doesn’t really bother me too much. Plus, the re-application helps to hydrate and smooth my lips, which is a must for me throughout the day (I have very dry lips!).
Really the only downside for me is the packaging – it’s a tad cheap looking and since the lipstick doesn’t wind all the way down the tube, it’s easy to grab a chunk off the top while re-capping if you aren’t careful. But hey, at ~$2 a pop, I can’t complain!
