I’m not a big lipstick wearer, but I can say that Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks may be changing that for me. These little lipsticks are among some of the best I’ve tried (second to the Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks). They impress in so many areas, from pigmentation, longevity, texture, and even the pretty packaging – making them super quick to apply, with less need for touch-ups.
Keep on reading for a quick description of these lippies, followed by my full YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick review!
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick
The Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick Collection features 40+ lip colors that ‘exude ultimate feminine strength and edgy style’. They provide rich color, intense hydration, and antioxidant care. Colors include reds, oranges, nudes, and fuchsias. Some of the beneficial ingredients include:
- Rosemary Extract: Provides moisturizing benefits to support natural skin restoration.
- Carrot Extract: Helps conditions lips.
- Yeast Extract: Comprised of a complex mixture of proteins, sugars, and amino acids, it acts as an excellent humectant (i.e. a hygroscopic substance used to keep things moist) and supports natural cell turnover in the skin.
YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick Review
First off, the YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks have excellent pigmentation – one swipe provides amazing opaque coverage. Considering that fact that it doesn’t take much product to create a full-on coat of color, these little tubes will last a while (that’s one way you’re getting your money’s worth with these babies!).
The lipstick’s formula is also nice and creamy, and even a little moisturizing. As a result, the color glides on the lips super smoothly, and creates nice even coverage.
Finish-wise, these lipsticks have a slight glossiness when you first apply them, however, this sheen starts to wear off rather quickly (dab your lips on a paper towel and it’s gone!). What you’re left with is a more matte look. Luckily, the underlying color stays put for quite a while – I usually get about 1-2 hours wear, with a slight stain remaining on my lips after the 2 hours.
Above, I’m wearing YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in No.9 Rose Stiletto, which is described as a ‘rich berry rose’. It’s perfect for Fall, and perfect for the office.
And here I’m wearing the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in No.19 Fuchsia, a ‘bright fuchsia pink’. This shade is a little more fun and definitely on the bolder side – perfect for a night out!
